On August 2, 2017 at 01:58:33 local time from the site of the Guiana Space Center in the Kura, by the launch teams of Arianespace company was launched the launch vehicle Vega (VV10) with the satellites OPTSAT-3000 (42900 / 2017-044A) and Venus (42901 / 2017-044B).

The OPTSAT-3000 satellite has separated from the launch vehicle Vega after 42 minutes 49 seconds after the launch, and the satellite Venus has separated after 1 hour. 37 min. 17 seconds after the launch.

The spacecraft OPTSAT-3000 (SHALOM, Spaceborne Hyperspectral Applicative Land and Ocean Mission) has manufactured by Israeli company Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (IAI) commissioned by the Italian Ministry of Defense. The overall dimensions of the satellite are 4.58 x 3.35 x 1.2 m. Its weight is 368 kg. The estimated period of active existence is 7 years.

The satellite Venus (VENμS, Venus, Vegetation and Environment Monitoring New Micro-Satellite) is also had manufactured by the Israeli company IAI.The company will have operated the satellite in cooperation with the National Space Agency of France CNES. The overall dimensions of the satellite are 4.4 x 1.7 x 1.2 m. The mass of the spacecraft is 264 kg. The estimated period of active existence is 4.5 years.

For reference: The main engine of the fourth stage RD-843 had developed by the State Enterprise “Yuzhnoye Design Office” and it had manufactured by the  State Enterprise “Production Association Yuzhny Machine-Building Plant named after A.M. Makarov”.

The lanch has been the tenth under the program “Vega”.
