Today, November 17, 2018 Antares LV has successfully lifted off from the spaceport at Wallops Island, Virginia, (the USA).

Within the mission a cargo ship Cygnus will be put into orbit, which will deliver a regular payload to the International space station for daily living needs and life support of the crew as well as materials for researches in the field of biology and bioengineering. The payload over three tons will be delivered on November 19, 2018. The structure of the spacecraft is not designed to return to the Earth.

The Cygnus was developed by Northrop Grumman to deliver cargos to the International space station under the program Commercial Resupply Services. An improved version of the spacecraft was launched today.

Ukraine has cooperated with the USA under Antares LV project since 2008. The main structure of the first Stage was designed by Yuzhnoye Design Office and manufactured by Yuzhmash.

It was the seventh successful launch of Antares LV.

The leadership of the SCAU congratulated the Yuzhmash team on the successful launch of the Antares launch vehicle and expressed deep gratitude for the long-term cooperation and responsible attitude to the obligations assumed for the production of the main structure of the first stage of the launch vehicle.
