Launch vehicle of a light type Vega with European satellite Aeolus was successfully launched from a spaceport Kuru (Guiana space centre) in Latin America. Start was performed at 18:20 local time; launch was live transmitted on a web-site of a company-operator Arianespace.

Aeolus is the first satellite developed for European space agency (ESA), for a wind remote sensing. Orbiter is intended for the Earth atmosphere analysis. The satellite launch allows getting data required for weather forecast upgrading, as well as enabling to a long-term climate research.

Cruise engine of 4th stage of RD-843 for a launch vehicle “Vega” was developed by State enterprise “Design office “Yuzhnoe” named after M.K.Yangel” and manufactured at State enterprise “Production association Yuzhny machine-building plant named after A.M. Makarov”.

“Vega” launch was the first in 2018 and the twelfth for more than 6 years.

Note:

Vega is a light launch vehicle named after second bright star of northern hemisphere. First launch of a 4-stage LV was performed in February 2012 from a spaceport Kuru (French Guiana).
