Today in Dnepropetrovsk Regional State Administration held a visiting meeting of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on issues of economic development. At the meeting attended by representatives of the State Space Agency and large enterprises of the region, in particular, YUZHMASH.
They discussed the problems of the space industry and measures whose implementation should provide an impetus to its development.
During the meeting, it was decided to recommend the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture and State Space Agency to develop and approve an action plan regarding Ukraine’s acquisition of membership in European Space Agency (ESA), whose ultimate goal determine the full membership of Ukraine in it. Membership fees for ESA foresee starting in 2021.
It was noted that last autumn an important step had already been taken in directions of development of the space industry, namely, changes in legislation on space activities that abolished the monopoly state enterprises in this area. Now private companies have received the opportunity to engage, in particular, in production and testing rocket and space technology and carry out launches.
The importance and necessity of corporatization of state enterprises, that is, their transformation into joint stock companies. This is an important step, not only in terms of the introduction of modern forms of government, it will also contribute and the implementation of a more distant goal – to attract strategic investment as a way to integrate our manufacturers into the international cooperation in the production of space rocket technology.
Actual issues of providing state support have not been ignored to bring YUZHMASH out of the crisis and the problem of recycling solid rocket fuel at the Pavlograd chemical plant.
After the event, the participants in the visiting session visited YUZHMASH, where got acquainted with the production capacities and products of the enterprise. The guests were presented with documents on long-term development plans YUZHMASH and proposals for their legislative support.
At the end, a press conference was held with representatives of the media. before reporters were the chairman Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on issues of economic development Dmitro Natalukha and CEO YUZHMASH Sergii Voyt, who provided answers to numerous and, at times, sharp questions about the state of the enterprise, plans for overcoming the crisis, current and future projects, debt repayment prospects with wages and the like.
